This book was a hard read for me. I am sure it was hard for most people to because of the seriousness of this story. The violence was hard anyway to read about and as I was reading it just painted this horrible picture in my head and it is not something I would want to think about or even talk about because it makes me uncomfortable because I think violence is never the answer and Im sure it would make plenty other readers uncomfortable. This book is meant for adults I do not think anyone younger should read this because of how serious this book was. The family’s dynamic is hard because they are not very close and they are divided. The main problem that I thought was when Pete kills Denis. I think this was the main problem because that was his mother’s boyfriend and that just makes the problem even worse. There were plenty of images that stood out to me but the one where the mother signs her kid over to the government that stood out to me the most. The characters were thought out really well and they really were good for the story line. I think this is a good book for people who are not as familiar with drugs and alcohol in the house hold because it gives them perspective.
